For Prospective Familes:

On behalf of the faculty and staff - welcome to King-Murphy Elementary School. I am honored to share with you all the wonderful things happening in our school. King-Murphy Elementary is one of the most unique opportunities for primary education you will find. We have many programs that combine to make KM the highest quality Preschool - 6th grade school you’ll find. Our International Baccalaureate (IB) program, which has it’s roots in international education in Switzerland, is a student-centered teacher and learning philosophy that takes traditional education and give ownership back to the most important person - the student. The inherent inquiry aspects of IB help grow our students to become critical thinkers and 21st century young people that are well on their way to being career or college ready.

Taking the strengths of IB and combining them with other best practices is what continues to set our school apart. We use leading best practices in literacy through our school-wide Lucy Calkins and Journeys literacy initiatives working in tandem with a dedicated book room for differentiated student instruction. We use FOSS kits to work through the intricacies of the science field. We use research-driven texts called Everyday Math, to drive our mathematics instruction. This is all tied together with our model classroom technology priorities of within the next two years getting every child a one-to-one device and putting advanced SMART boards in each classroom.

On top of all this you can reap the benefits of one of the strongest community partnerships a school can have. Parents and teachers work together to provide the best education possible at King-Murphy. Do yourself a favor and reach out to the PTA at kingmurphypta@gmail.com to find out more about this community of support.

Now take some time to explore this website, it is a treasure trove of resources and information for anything from our academics with information on topics like our literacy programs, to our STEM Initiative, Student Council, our International Baccalaureate (IB) program, or just catch up through our weekly family newsletter. If you have any questions, want to come see the school, or just want to have a chat about the best school in Colorado feel free to call me at 303-670-0005 or email me directly at tony.pascoe@ccsdre1.org. We are looking forward to meeting you and showing you our wonderful school.

Best regards,

Tony Pascoe, Principal
