CCSD Families & Educators,
As we get closer to our date to welcome back students, August 18th, you might have questions regarding the options and models we shared earlier this month in the Revised School Restart Plan.
Current plans still include starting in person learning on August 18th. We are so excited to see our students! Each school will provide more detailed information on health & safety protocols. Should anything change regarding the start of school, we will let families know immediately. You may have heard that some of the larger districts in the Denver area are beginning school using a remote learning model. Each county has a unique set of factors that may impact a decision to learn in person or remotely, including size of school, ability to cool and ventilate buildings, and trends of COVID in the area. One of the biggest factors in our ability to welcome students in person is the number of COVID cases in Clear Creek County. We also need healthy employees! Wear your mask and wash your hands!
Because some families may be more comfortable keeping a child home during our In Person Learning model, we will provide an online option (to the extent it will meet the child’s needs). For the online option, CCSD will use Colorado Digital Learning Solutions, CDLS. CDLS is well respected by educators across the state and provides a variety of courses. The online option is available to students in K-12th grade.
Students who select the online option are still CCSD students. We will pay for the CDLS courses using CARES funding. We will ask students to commit one semester at a time to allow for consistency and course registration. We’ve gotten a few questions about homeschooling and pod learning. Should a family decide to homeschool a child, or utilize pod learning, that means the child is unenrolled from CCSD and the cost falls upon the family to provide learning. It also means that CCSD is no longer funded for that child.
It can be confusing for parents; don’t hesitate to reach out to your child’s principal with questions.
In order to allow us to plan, please complete this brief survey indicating if your child will join us for In Person learning or instead use the online option. (one survey per child)
We continue to partner with Clear Creek Public Health on creating health protocols for staff & students. Since we shared the revised plan, we’ve received some great questions. We are also in the process of writing an employee-specific return to work guide. Educators have been involved in conversations as we plan, as they are at the heart of learning with students. FAQ’s, are here. We will update these as we receive additional questions.
Looking forward to seeing everyone!
