CCSD UPDATE 4.18.2022

Four Day School Week

Calendar and Bell Times: The 22-23 CCSD Family Calendar is finalized. Clear Creek Middle & High School hours will be 8:00-3:50. After school activities including athletics will begin just after 4pm, as determined by each coach/sponsor. The activity bus will continue to run, Monday-Thursday, with a likely pick up time at CCMSHS of 6:15pm. Assessing what’s working in terms of timing will be important in the fall; we will adapt as needed.

Carlson Elementary School hours will be 8:00-3:30. King Murphy Elementary School hours will be 8:00-3:30 (with the potential to change by 10 minutes at the start or end of the day, due to busing schedules still being developed).

COMPASS Day activities and logistics continue to be planned with community feedback. Elementary students will have activities provided free of charge Friday mornings, funded by the 21st Century Learning grant. Friday morning activities will typically run from 8:00am to 12noon, sometimes longer. Afternoon “wrap around care” on Fridays will be provided by Rocky Mountain Kids at King Murphy and Clear Creek Metropolitan Recreation District in Idaho Springs, with (likely) hours from 12noon-5pm (again, this can be flexed as the needs are determined). Wrap around care will have a minimal cost to families. Families who are unable to afford the wrap around afternoon care should contact your child’s principal for options for assistance. Additional details for Friday morning activities will be shared in early May.

Secondary students will have opportunities for internships and job shadows, coordinated by Dacia Kelly, our Career Connections Coordinator. Academic enrichment and tutoring activities will be available for MS/HS students. They will also have activities offered free of charge by Mountain Youth Network. Additional details surrounding these enrichment activities will be shared in May. Contact [email protected] for more information.

Transportation needs on Fridays are being assessed. Busing to and from school sites for COMPASS Day activities on Fridays will be available if there is a need. These would be condensed routes, as we don’t anticipate full buses. Please fill out the Transportation Survey by the end of April so we can assess the need!

Athletic practices and games on Fridays will be coordinated through coaches. Transportation for athletic competitions/games/meets will continue to be provided by CCSD buses. Athletic practices on Fridays will not have district-provided transportation available. Coaches can determine if the teams will schedule practices on Fridays (and when) and communicate with students & families. Needs will be monitored and we will make adjustments as necessary.
