Why King-Murphy Mountain School

We provide more than just education — we create a supportive community where students excel academically, socially, and emotionally.

"King-Murphy Mountain School is a sweet little community where every student is known and appreciated for their unique potential." - Scott Bain, Principal

King-Murphy Mountain School students, ages 4-years to 6th grade, thrive on our 14-acre mountain campus, which features hiking trails and outdoor classrooms, which foster a deep connection to nature and is an inspiring environment for learning. This approach immerses students in hands-on experiences through nature-based learning, research, and expeditions throughout our mountain community.

Beautifully nestled at the base of Mount Blue Sky, one of Colorado’s majestic "fourteeners," King-Murphy Mountain School provides students with an inspiring environment where the world becomes their classroom. King-Murphy Mountain School is a Performance ranked school with the Colorado Department of Education, earning 90 out of the 100 possible points on state assessments in the 2023-2024 school year.

Supportive Community
Creating a Sense of Belonging

Through small class sizes, a close-knit community, and “Crew” time, students develop a profound sense of belonging. This connection, combined with our expanding focus on the Expeditionary Learning (EL Education) approach, creates dynamic and meaningful learning experiences. Together, these elements make King-Murphy Mountain School a truly magical place for students to grow, explore, and thrive.

Enrichments

King-Murphy Mountain School offers a robust afterschool and Friday Enrichment program, thanks to a partnership between Rocky Mountain Kids (RMK) and the 21st Century Grant. This collaboration allows students to access free and/or low-cost enrichment activities that promote learning and exploration beyond the classroom. Programs include partnerships with the Public Library, Drama Club, Lego Club, Art Club, Sports Club, Recreation District Basketball, and more.

4-Day School

We operate on a 4-day school week. There are a variety of opportunities throughout the community for students and families to engage in on Fridays, including activities at the rec district, the library, and Snow Dodgers.

Transportation

Clear Creek School District provides bus transportation to ensure students travel safely to and from school, even in challenging weather conditions.

Parents can stay informed about routes and updates through the district’s Transportation Services and Infinite Campus system.
